St Tropez Self Tanning Application Guide

BODY POLISHER - Ensures that you tan fresh and smooth skin. Used the morning of your application to ensure your colour lasts as long as possible. Apply every 2-3 days so that your tan fades evenly.

BODY MOISTURISER - Apply to dry areas before you tan. Self-tans can cling to areas like elbows, hands, feet and knees. Apply liberally before application.

Choose your tan from AUTO BRONZANT, WHIPPED BRONZE MOUSSE and BRONZING MIST.

When using Tinted Self-Tanning Lotion follow the directions below. Use directions on the bottles when using the Whipped Bronze or the Bronzing Mist.

A.M. The day you begin your tan, shower or bathe using the Body Polisher in your hand or wash cloth to remove excess dull dry skin, shave if necessary. Apply Body Moisturiser over entire body after shower or bath. fades evenly.

P.M. Just before bed, apply Body Moisturizer to dry areas such as feet, ankles, knees, hands, elbows and hairline. This equalizes skin porosity and helps keep palms from staining.

You may choose to wear Latex (tight fitting) gloves to protect the hands. Smooth Self-tan evenly over body and face, rubbing in slightly, leaving it in a moist condition. Allow it to absorb into skin. Over rubbing will result in wiping off your tan.

Start with feet; work your way up the body. Apply to one body part at a time; apply in each area before moving to the next area. Use Self-Tan Remover on palms or wash your hands with soap and a scrub brush. Lastly, apply Body Moisturizer to hands, and then apply a small amount of self-tan to tops of hands. Using both hands, rub tops of hands together to the tips of each finger. This tans the hands without tanning the palms. Allow Self-tan to absorb 10-15 minutes before bedtime. Don't worry if you look streaky as it dries. This is normal. Colour will intensify in 3 hours. Next morning, shower to rinse off excess product. This will eliminate product from rubbing on clothing throughout the day. Moisturise after shower. To achieve a base tan, apply Self-tan 3 nights consecutively. Do not use Body Polisher on the 2nd and 3rd mornings. However, you should still shower, just don't scrub.

To avoid spotting moisturize daily, preferably in the mornings. Apply Self-tan 2 or 3 times weekly at night. Use the Body Polisher once or twice weekly.

What do I need to do to prepare my skin before applying the product?
You will need to exfoliate the skin thoroughly, and then moisturise difficult areas only, such as knees, ankles, elbows etc.

How dark is it on really fair/pale skin?
For people with really fair skin the product will give them a natural healthy glow, for a deeper tan a second application may need to be applied. The tan will look darker on people with olive skin for example.

What should I wear whilst I'm waiting for the tan to develop?
It is advised to wear loose baggy clothing, so the tan does not rub off by abrasive clothing.

How long should I wait before showering?
A minimum of 3 hours.

Does the tan go orange?
No. The formulation has a tint of green in it which prevents the tan from going orange.

How long will the tan last for?
Some people report tans lasting up to two weeks. On average we recommend that a tan will last a minimum of 7 - 10 days.

Do you think I should attend a salon first before using the product myself?
Many customers use the product confidently at home and achieve success by following the instructions accurately. If you would feel happier attending a salon at first, to get use to the nature of the product and how it applies, for the first time and then top up at home in future.

Will it wash off?
Only if you attempted to bathe before the tan was fully developed, during the four-hour period. Once the tan has developed you can shower and bathe as normal.

Can I go swimming?
Swimming in the sea on holiday is fine. However, swimming in baths is not advised as chlorine bleaches the tan.

Can I sunbathe with this product?
The self-tan product has no SPF factors in it. Therefore normal protection products would need to be applied on top to sunbathe.

Does the product smell?
The product has a pleasant aromatic scent.

Can vitiligo sufferers use this product?
Yes. Vitiligo sufferers find that this product does help to cover their condition and we have produced a set of application directions specifically for vitiligo sufferers.

I am allergic to other self-tanning products; will I be allergic to this product?
It is very likely that you are allergic to the DHA's present in self-tan products. The St. Tropez self tan also has these present.
