How to Perfect ‘Barely There’ Eyeliner

Eye Of Horus Cosmetics have given us their expert advice on how to create the most natural looking eyeliner look.

For a more softer twist on a classic winged liner look, skip the black and opt for a softer brown pencil to achieve the ‘barely there’ eyeliner. Soft brown hues work best if you’re looking for a no-makeup look, as they mimic the natural shadows around the eye.

Create the look by using a brown pencil eyeliner and a brown mascara, giving subtle definition that will uplift and enhance natural beauty.

Whether you prefer lash line application or tight-lining for definition, Eye Of Horus Goddess Pencil is perfect for accentuating your eyes with its creamy, blendable and waterproof formula.

Pair with bronzed, sun-kissed skin for a radiant, glowing complexion and brushed up, fluffy brows.

Step one: Prepare The Eyelids

Start by evenly applying the Triple C Concealer in your ideal shade across your eyelid with the Vegan Eyeshadow Brush or with your finger to create a base for your eye makeup to sit on.

Set the lid with a light powder that matches your skin tone with the Vegan Blending Brush. This will assist the Goddess Pencil to glide smoothly onto the eyelid and provide all day wear.

Step two: Create Natural Depth with Eyeshadow

Using the Summer Solstice Palette, for this look we softly blended the shade ‘Jupiter’ through the crease of the eyelid using the Vegan Blending Brush to create a natural shadow. A deeper look could be achieved by blending the shade ‘Mars’ focusing on the outer corners of the lid.

Step three: Apply Liner Along The Top Lash Line

Using quick strokes, apply a sharpened Goddess Pencil in Nubian Brown as close to the lash line as possible to create depth. Using the sponge on the opposite end of the pencil, smudge out the line to create a softer, more natural ‘barely there’ look. We used the Vegan Angled Brush to extend the eyeliner and elongate the eyes with a subtle wing.

Step four: Clean Up the Eyeliner If Needed

If the eyeliner is a little too thick at the edges, it can be thinned using a cotton bud and a small amount of water to create a clean line. You can further clean it up with a little bit of the Triple C Concealer in your ideal shade to lift and brighten the eye area.

Step five: Tight-line The Upper Waterline

Tight-lining is an easy technique of lining your upper waterline for a subtle yet impactful finish. Using the same Goddess Pencil in Nubian Brown, tight-line the upper waterline focusing on the outer corners. The pencil can also be applied between the lashes to make sure there aren't any gaps in the eyeliner.

Step six: Enhance the Lashes

To open up the eyes, start by curling your lashes with our Goddess Lash Curler, clamping until your desired curl is achieved. Then coat the lashes with the Goddess Mascara in Babylon Brown to add natural length and volume.

Step seven: Fill In The Brows

Groom and fill your hairs using the starting at the arch of your brow and feathering out. Then, starting at the base of your brows, continue using the pencil to mimic hair-like strokes for a natural finish. Once complete, use the brow gel to gently comb over the hairs and set them in place for the day.

Complete the Look

Combine the barely there look with dewy, radiant skin and a nude lip.

Apply Triple C Concealer to create a smooth, flawless base. Add bronzer to the cheekbones, forehead and jawline using the Universal Duo Palette and add the blush to the apples of the cheeks using the Vegan Contour Brush.

Apply a small amount of the Luminous Highlighter in Dusk Bronze to the high points of the cheeks for a dewy finish.

Pair this look with the Bio Lipstick in Inanna Honey, a deeper nude lip shade with a natural, satin finish, ideal for most skin tones. Glide the smooth formula across the lips starting from one corner and blending across in gentle sweeping motions.

To take this look from day to night, add a deeper lip liner for a bolder finish.
