The Swissdent Whitening toothpastes are based on Nanotechnology, which the bleaching effects of the ingredients to be used to their optimum. Calcium Peroxides, in the form of nano-particles, penetrate even the finest cracks and gaps between the teeth, ensuring effective bleaching.
'Power Enzymes', extracted from pineapple (bromelain) and papaya (papain), remove stains from coffee and tobacco as well as red wine, in a very natural way. Fine silicates gently polish the surface of your teeth.
These toothpastes have a very low abrasiveness and can be used daily; they are neither aggressive on your teeth nor on your gums.
The following products of the Swissdent Dental Cosmetics line will be launched at JohnandGinger.co.uk

FAQs
What makes Swissdent different to standard toothpastes?
In addition to gentle tooth cleaning with natural enzymes, the tooth is treated to a mild bleaching with the help of the latest nanotechnology.
What is bleaching?
Bleaching is the lightening of colour pigments (in the tooth) through the use of active oxygen (peroxide).
How does the Swissdent bleaching work?
It’s based on the Swissdent Nanowhitening formula: tiny calcium peroxideparticles are deposited in the irregularities of the tooth’s surface and release oxygen. This oxidises with the colour pigments in the tooth, causing them to lose their colouring properties.
What is nano (technology)?
It is the use of very small particles: a nanometre is the billionth part of a metre. The smaller an active ingredient is, the better it can reach the place where it needs to work.
What is Nanoxyd?
It is bio-available calcium peroxide in nano size – an extremely effective bleaching agent: Calcium ensures better adhesion to the tooth enamel. Nano particles have a minute volume but a large surface area, which means they are much more effective. In addition, they are so small that they can better enter the cracks in the tooth enamel.
What is the difference between Extreme and Gentle?
Extreme is especially designed for teeth which are badly stained by tobacco, but is also ideal for coffee and red wine drinkers.
Does the bleaching agent in Swissdent attack the gums?
No, because the quantity of Nanoxyd® is far too low (0.1%).
Are there any side effects?
Allergies can occur in isolated cases – as with any other toothpaste. Therefore, if you suffer from allergies, you should check the ingredients carefully before use.
Can you use Swissdent if you have crowns or bridges?
Swissdent only lightens the colour pigments on the porcelain or composite resin, but not the basic colour of the crowns or bridges themselves.
Is it possible that only part of a tooth or a row of teeth may be lightened?
With artificial tooth parts, only the colour pigments attached to the prosthesis will be lightened, and not the prosthesis itself. Your own tooth enamel will also become lighter. This can lead to uneven results.
Does Swissdent attack alloys or inlays (gold/ porcelain/ composite resin)?
No, these are not affected by the use of Swissdent.
Can I use it if I have gum disease?
With gum disease (periodontosis), the gums have receded, leaving the tooth neck, which is made of dentine, exposed. The dentine reacts sensitively to hot and cold, as well as to air and acids. Like any other bleaching process, Swissdent can also increase this sensitivity. The advantage of Swissdent is its very low concentration of Nanoxyd® (0.1%),which means that the risk of sensitising the dentine is low.
Are these toothpastes harmful to children?
Since there is a risk that children may swallow large quantities of toothpaste and thus take in too much fluoride, the same recommendation applies to Swissdent as to any other toothpaste: it should only be used by children over the age of 6.Children under that age should use specially formulated children’s toothpaste.
For how long and how often can I use Extreme and Gentle?
Just like any other toothpaste – every day. It is recommended that you brush your teeth for at least two minutes at a time, three times a day. For best bleaching results, Swissdent should not be rinsed out of the mouth after brushing before bed. In this way the Nanoxyd® can work through the night.
How fast will I see results?
After around 3-4 weeks. If, for some reason, it takes longer, get in touch with Swissdent or speak to your dentist.
Are these toothpastes harmful to tooth enamel?
Swissdent is completely harmless to tooth enamel because natural enzymes are used for gentle tooth cleaning. With most toothpastes, coarse scouring agents are used, which can damage the enamel.
What are the effects of the enzymes from pineapple (bromelain) and papaya (papain) which are contained in Extreme and NANOWHITENING?
They help to gently dissolve plaque, leaving the road clear for the bleaching agent,Nanoxyd® which can then reach the tooth surface.
What are the silicates contained in Extreme and Gentle and how do they work?
Silicates are natural minerals. They are used to polish the surface of the tooth. What does the RDA tell me about a toothpaste? The term Radioactive DentinAbrasion is used to describe the scale of the abrasiveness of the cleaning agents on the dentine. Swissdent toothpastes have a very low RDA in comparison with other toothpastes.
What does co-enzyme Q10 do?
It reduces the risk of gum inflammations and helps to prevent the formation of deeper periodontal pockets.
What do the glacier water minerals in Pure do?
They assist the re-mineralisation of the tooth – for example after an acid attack (see previous answer).
What do the methyl parabens contained in Swissdent do?
They are a preservative.
How does the menthol react with homoeopathic substances?
Menthol is an ethereal oil which can reduce the effect of homoeopathic medicines. You should therefore consult your doctor before use.
What is the baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) in Extreme and what is it for?
It neutralises aggressive acids and gently polishes the surface of the tooth.
What effect does the Vitamin E have?
Vitamin E helps to keep the gums healthy by reducing free radicals which promote inflammations, and thus assists the healing mechanism.
What does the fluoride do?
Fluoride hardens the tooth enamel and protects against caries.
Who should use Crystal Repair And Whitening Toothpaste?
Crystal Repair And Whitening Toothpaste is ideally suited for people with poor quality teeth who can’t bleach (those with sensitive teeth, exposed teeth necks, poor quality dental enamel). It is also intended for those who choose not to bleach, for whatever reason, but who still don’t want to miss out on white teeth.
What has anti-ageing got to do with teeth?
Our teeth are ageing every day. Day for day our teeth our exposed to both mechanical (abrasive toothpastes) and chemical (acids) abrasion. This process results in a gradual wearing down of the white dental enamel layer and teeth become gradually more yellow in colour and increasingly sensitive. Treatments that slow down this ageing process are referred to as anti-ageing treatments.
Why is it packed in single-use sachets?
Crystal Repair And Whitening Toothpaste ingredients are air sensitive. The one-time applications guarantee that the product is absolutely fresh when it is applied and thus achieves optimal effect. In addition this method also ensures use of the correct amount of product.
Do dentists offer similar treatments?
As a dentist specialising in cosmetic dentistry, Dr. Velkoborsky’s main task is to create aesthetically optimal solutions for his patients. This may range from the slight correction of a discoloured tooth to a full „Hollywood smile“ for celebrities: the latter involves covering each tooth with wafer thin ceramic veneers. This can be a very time-consuming and expensive exercise. It was in this connection that Crystal Repair And Whitening Toothpaste was developed. Crystal Repair And Whitening Toothpaste forms a protective layer over each tooth, analogous to the ceramic veneer. The product is capable of binding with the tooth surface for lasting effect. This is due to a chemical reaction that begins when the product is exposed to a liquid environment. After application the treatment continues to bind with the tooth surface.
Can Crystal Repair And Whitening Toothpaste stop the ageing process or only slow it down?
Teeth enamel is exposed to abrasion on a daily basis. Crystal Repair And Whitening Toothpaste forms a protective white layer over each tooth which compensates for the loss of tooth enamel. In this way Crystal Repair And Whitening Toothpaste slows both the process of abrasion and the process of ageing.
Can Crystal Repair And Whitening Toothpaste be used for exposed tooth necks?
Yes. Crystal Repair And Whitening Toothpaste is a product that is ideally suited to particularly sensitive teeth and tooth necks. By covering teeth and tooth necks with a mineralised protective layer, teeth sensitivity is measurably reduced. Crystal Repair And Whitening Toothpaste is also the only available product that covers exposed yellow dentine with a protective white layer.
Why should Crystal Repair And Whitening Toothpaste be used in the evening?
Crystal Repair And Whitening Toothpaste is best applied in the evening after teeth cleaning. The mineralisation of the protective white layer works best on a freshly cleaned tooth surface when the process can work overnight unhindered by eating or drinking.
Is it a problem if you occasionally forget to apply Crystal Repair And Whitening Toothpaste during the course of the treatment?
The more regularly the product is applied, the more effective are the results. It is therefore recommended to try to stick to the 30 day treatment.
Is Crystal Repair And Whitening Toothpaste complementary to bleaching treatments?
Most definitely. Crystal Repair And Whitening Toothpaste works optimally as a complement to bleaching. The bleached tooth surface will be protected by Crystal Repair And Whitening Toothpaste and will therefore discolour at a slower rate.
Does Crystal Repair And Whitening Toothpaste contain peroxide?
No. Crystal Repair And Whitening Toothpaste is not a bleaching product but an anti-ageing treatment. It does not contain any bleaching ingredients. That’s why it is ideally suited to people who don’t want to miss out on white teeth, despite having over-sensitive teeth.
