How To Layer Your Skincare Products
At the John And Ginger Salon we get asked all the time the order in which to use their skincare products, what goes on first, what goes on last, when to use a serum and when to use a peel, and there is eye cream. Our easy to remember rule is always apply thinnest to thickest, so serums before creams.
Follow these simple steps to prep, prime and treat your skin.
Step 1: Cleanse
Remove pollution, daily dirt and make-up before the more serious work begins. We recommend a Dermalogica Double Cleanse with Precleanse and your chosen Dermalogica Cleanser, this really makes sure any dirt and grime are completely removed as your usual cleanser simply cannot fully penetrate the oil debris that creates an invisible film on your skin.
Step 2: Exfoliate
We love Dr Dennis Gross Peels, an iconic 2 step delivery process that is recommended to be used daily, yes daily. This keeps your skin bright, healthy, and smoother, plus the anti ageing benefits are incredible. The Dr Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Peels accelerate cell renewal which boosts the production of collagen for your skin in the long term to look more youthful.
Step 3: Treat
Target your concerns, from fine lines, pigmentation, dehydration and ageing with serums. We love Skinceuticals CE Ferulic, a super antioxidant that neutralises free radical damage and protects against oxidative stress that lead to premature ageing, loss of elasticity and hyper pigmentation. Apply your eye cream, Dermalogica Awaken Peptide Eye Gel to decongest the eye area and counteract any puffiness and dullness.
Step 4: Protect
Seal in all the goodness of your serums with your chosen moisturiser, SkinCeuticals Daily Moisture will hydrate and restore moisture levels. As always your morning routine should be completed with an SPF to protect your skin from the damaging UV rays. Try Jan Marini Physical Protectant Tinted SPF45 57g free from chemical filters.
So remember, Cleanse, Exfoliate, Treat and Protect morning and night to enable your skin glow with vitality every day.
